Unit Four - Giving Instructions and Directions Composition Practice Third Edition Book 2, by Linda Lanon Blanton
Page 50 Composition
Tell someone how to do or make something. You might write out a recipe or tell someone how to build something. Give your composition a title.
Please use the model given to write a composition. You will have three paragraphs.
Paragraph one- Introduce your idea. What are you talking about? Can people use it.
Paragraph two- Describe the process. What comes first? What is second? What is next?
Paragraph three- What is the end of the process? Conclude with some general points.

Remember your book assignment. I hope you are all working diligently on it.
Also you recipe assignment. Your recipe assignment can be your composition for Unit four.

Page 41. Read and follow the directions on page 41 for the map on page 40.
Page 42. Find the vocabulary words listed in the reading. See if you can guess the meaning. If you do not know the meaning please look it up in your dictionary.
Page 43. Find the imperatives in the reading and write them oi the lines.
Page 44. Rewrite the sentences. Use the modals given to complete your sentence.

Finish up your book assignment. It is due next class.

Composition 2
Write a composition. Use Model 2 to help you write your composition.
Paragraph 1 Introduce your friend. How do you know him or her? What do you think of the friendship?
Paragraph 2 Describe your friend physically: age, color of hair, color of eyes, face, body, clothes, etc...
Paragraph 3 Describe your friend's personality.
Paragraph 4 Conclude with your friend's future plans. Give your feelings about your friend's future.

Remember to read your book.
Start filling int he book worksheet.

Write a composition about your daily activities.
There will be 5 paragraphs
Paragraph 1. Introduce yourself. (Where do you live? What do you do?)
Paragraph 2. Tell about what you are doing right now. (Where are you writing? Are you using a computer or a paper and pen? Where are you sitting?)
Paragraph 3. Tell about your morning activities (before work or school) and about the main part of your day.
Paragraph 4. Tell about your evening activities.
Paragraph 5. Conclude (finish) with several general points.

Unit 2 - Describing a Friend
Read the story on page 15.
Match sentences from the reading to the pictures on page 14.

Practice chatting and speaking to another student using your headset and Google Talk.

2007-2008 RIFLI Student Celebration at East Providence Public Library

You are invited to share this occasion with students, volunteers and staff.
Students will celebrate a year of hard work and dedication in their pursuit to learn English.

This is a potluck. Students are asked to make a dish or dessert from their native country. In past years we have had food from Cape Verde, Portugal, Brazil, China, Korea, Dominican Republic, Azores, India, Guatemala, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria and more.

If you cannot come please call me at 435-1988.
